Clavis Patrum Latinorum

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Clavis Patrum Latinorum ('Key (Glossary) of the Latin Fathers') is an academic reference volume published in 1952 by Brepols of Turnhout in Belgium. The editor was Eligius Dekkers. The volume contains a list of all the Fathers of the Church who wrote in Latin from Tertullian in the 2nd century to the death of Bede in 735.[1][non-primary source needed]

Organisation

For each author the volume lists all their works, whether genuine or not, extant or not. Each work is assigned a number. The CPL number is widely used as a reference in scholarly literature.[2]

The volume itself is written in Latin. The current edition is the third edition, published in 1995.[citation needed]

A corresponding Clavis Patrum Graecorum series of volumes also exists for the Greek Fathers.[citation needed]

The publisher states that the two were created in order to facilitate publishing the Corpus Christianorum series of Latin and Greek texts.[citation needed]
