ClearDB Documenter is application software developed by Conquest Software Solutions to document Oracle databases (9–12c).

    Main features[edit]

    Oracle database documentation[edit]

Documents a complete set of 59 schema (tables, views, procedures, functions, packages, types, triggers, etc.) and non-schema (contexts, directories, profiles, users, roles, etc.) object types with all their properties, DDL, privileges, synonyms, references, dependencies, source code as well as database instance properties, options, and initialization parameters for Oracle databases, versions from 9 to 12c.

    Oracle Database Security Audit[edit]

Database Security Audit checks for over 630 potential security risks in an Oracle database and generates a Database Security Audit Report with a summary of all violated checks. The output is grouped by policies and checks; each check has its description, explanation of why the detected issue might pose risk to the security and safety of the given database, and severity level of the issue.

The Database Security Audit Report is always password protected and encrypted to prevent loss of sensitive information.

Conquest Software Solutions cooperates with a world-leading Oracle Security expert, Pete Finnigan, to guarantee that the “Oracle Database Security Audit” feature provides state-of-art functionality, know-how and database security experience from real life.

    PL/SQL code analyzer[edit]

Analyzes the quality of Oracle PL/SQL used in stored objects and provides recommendations for a better coding style. Identifies error-prone areas based on complexity, size, and modularity.

The code review module checks PL/SQL for coding mistakes using 75 code review rules and makes suggestions for good programming practices.

Detects Parser and Database errors, anomalies, alerts, and warnings, and generates an observation report as part of a Docu.

    Database illustration[edit]

Visualizes analyzed Oracle databases, creating R&D (references and dependencies) and ER (entity-relationship) diagrams, Flowchart and Call Tree diagrams, and CRUD matrices.

    Protection of documentation[edit]

Protects output documentation with a unique password and encryption. Two types of protection are available: full (optional) – applies to Docus; partial (mandatory) – applies to Database Security Audit Reports. Protected documents and security reports can be opened in docuVIEWER only.

    Comparison of Docu vs. Docu/Database[edit]

Compares two Docus (database documentation) with its source (or any other) Oracle database and outlines results in a Docu Comparison Report. Comparison results are grouped by three categories: Database Properties, Database Objects, and Database Security.

    docuVIEWER[edit]

    docuVIEWER logo.png

Output documents are generated by ClearDB Documenter in an HTML format and can be viewed either via Conquest’s proprietary tool docuVIEWER or in standard browsers. docuVIEWER allows opening documents completely or partly protected with a password and encryption. Also, it can generate and regenerate instant diagrams and create a one page Docu Summary Report (beta) for multiple Docus.

docuVIEWER is available in two versions:

    • embedded in ClearDB Documenter since version 4.5 (default)
    • optional as a FREE standalone application to download (same functionality)

    Licensing[edit]

ClearDB Documenter is a licensed software product that is free to try with a no-cost 30-day trial license.
