CloudPay is a technology company that provides managed global payroll and treasury services through a proprietary cloud-based platform. Founded in 1996 as Patersons, the company launched its platform for multi-country payroll, called CloudPay, in 2001. In 2012, the company rebranded under the name of its core platform.
History[edit]
Patersons Global Payroll was founded by Karen Paterson in 1996, running traditional payroll services internationally. In 2001, Patersons launched the CloudPay platform, taking its payroll services into the cloud. Karen Paterson left the company in 2010, and the company was rebranded as CloudPay in 2012. As of 2020, CloudPay claims a customer base of more than 1500 organizations worldwide.
Over the years, CloudPay has received investment from numerous partners, including Rho Ventures, Pinnacle Investment Partners, Hercules Capital and Runway Growth Capital. Rho Ventures partner Paul Bartlett is CloudPay’s current Chief Executive Officer. Headquartered in Andover in the United Kingdom, CloudPay also operates service centres in Brazil, China, Costa Rica, France, Hungary, the Philippines, Singapore, Spain and the United States.
CloudPay Platform[edit]
The CloudPay platform is unified payroll software, based in the cloud, that accommodates the payroll requirements of more than 130 countries and over 25 languages. It is principally designed for large companies and multinationals who have differing payroll requirements between departments and territories, and who can therefore bring all their payroll operations together on a single platform. The platform also accommodates integration with enterprise and human resources software, and automation of payroll processes.
The platform has received recognition in the payroll industry, being awarded ‘Payroll Software Product of the Year’ at the 2016 Payroll World Awards, and ‘Global Payroll Supplier of the Year’ at the 2019 Global Payroll Awards.
Payroll Services[edit]
CloudPay provides numerous payroll-related services to its customers including implementation support, fully managed outsourcing of payroll, treasury services and a global compliance framework. Its website also hosts resources and information relating to global payroll, including an online payroll maturity assessment built in collaboration with analyst firm NelsonHall, and country-specific payroll guides that explain the basics of paying employees across the globe.
