Club Carter Radio
Club Carter Radio is an independent online music show created and hosted by Dutch broadcaster and DJ Sagid Carter. The show is produced in Amsterdam and features an eclectic weekly mix of indie, electronic, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and alternative music.[1]
Club Carter Radio launched in early 2025 on YouTube and has been noted as the first online radio-VJ show of its kind, blending traditional radio storytelling with visual elements, music videos, artist messages and curated aesthetics. It quickly attracted an international audience, including fans such as Grammy-nominated American rapper and singer Doechii.[2]
New episodes are released every Monday and are available on multiple platforms: YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify playlist (music-only).
The name Club Carter was created by Sagid Carter and was originally used for Carter’s former Saturday night program Club Carter, which aired on Dutch public broadcaster NPO 3FM via VPRO's 3voor12. When she started her own project, she reimagined the brand and transformed it into Club Carter Radio.
Philosophy & Mission
Club Carter Radio was founded as a counterbalance to algorithm-driven platforms, aiming to restore human connection in music curation. The show reflects Carter’s belief in “slow media” and intentional listening, where soundtracks are built with care, memory, and cultural storytelling.
Carter describes the show as “creating a space for music lovers worldwide to explore sounds beyond the mainstream,” combining personal taste with narrative context.
Her signature approach includes: artist introductions (voice notes from musicians), unexpected pairings of genres and eras, visuals and a community-driven spirit grounded in curiosity.
Sagid Carter
Sagid Carter (born 1994) is a Dutch radio personality, journalist, DJ and VJ. She began her career at FunX, a Dutch urban youth station, before moving to VPRO and NPO 3FM, where she hosted several shows under the 3voor12 music platform. Carter became known for her editorial sensibility and genre-bending programming.[3][4]
She was named Media Talent of the Year in 2020 by Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant[5] and received an honorable mention at the prestigious Zilveren Reissmicrofoon awards[6]. Carter left 3FM in August 2022 to pursue independent creative projects.[7]
In 2024, while visiting New York City, Carter had an impromptu meeting with Chris Martin (Coldplay) and recorded a spontaneous interview.[8] This moment, alongside her experience in public broadcasting, inspired her to follow her dreams and to launch Club Carter Radio in 2025 as a fully independent venture.
