'Club Comanche Hotel (Christiansted, USVI) The Club Comanche Hotel is a Historical Landmark situated in Downtown Christiansted, St. Croix (United States Virgin Islands). This Historical Hotel has been repositioned as St. Croix’s only Executive Boutique Hotel, Meeting and Event center in the heart of Downtown Christiansted on the Harbor Boardwalk with 23 uniquely designed Danish Style, guest rooms. The Club Comanche Hotel is just steps away from the popular Harbor Boardwalk which links the Historic Danish Fort and Customs House all in the Downtown area. . The Comanche Mill Bar, formerly the Honeymoon Suite, anchors Club Comanche to the harbor boardwalk.

History The Club Comanche Hotel is one of St. Croix's first small hotel’s and meeting place, opened November 11, 1948 in a 1750's era Danish Great House near the waterfront in downtown Christiansted (USVI).

Throughout the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's Club Comanche was the social and business center of St. Croix. Many Crucians and visitors remember special times at the Comanche: prom night, their engagement or honeymoon, first date, playpen (for children and adults). Businessmen, professionals and politicians gathered daily at Club Comanche for fun and profit.

The Club Comanche Hotel is also the home of the first “Hollywood Style Swimming Pool” in the United States Virgin islands. This Historical Pool, formerly filled with re-circulating harbor water pumped by the windmill, is converted to fresh water and re-plumbed to meet modern safety regulations. The elevator in the Great House is also one of the first in the Caribbean.

Battered but not beaten by Hurricane Hugo in 1989, The Club Comanche Hotel and Restaurant languished. The Historical Club Comanche Hotel and Bridge House Guest Rooms and Suites have been lovingly restored and furnished with West Indian antiques and replicas to preserve it’s Danish Heritage. Club Comanche Hotel is less than a block from Government House and is easily recognizable by the Comanche Bridge over Strand Street that joins the Great House to the Pavilion Bar and Bridge House hotel rooms on the waterfront. The Comanche Mill Bar, formerly the Honeymoon Suite, anchors Club Comanche to the Harbor Boardwalk. The Great House Courtyard is a formal tropical garden at The Club Comanche Hotel where most guests choose to enjoy afternoon tea, plan an evening reception or wine tasting. Today, this small hotel is at the center of culture, tourism, business and Government in the historic town of Christiansted, St.Croix, USVI.

Notable Guest Hollywood movie stars such as John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara and Laurence Olivier made regular visits. Robert “Oppie” Oppenheimer, father of the atomic bomb, also spent long periods of time at The Club Comanche Hotel. Just in December of 2009, Former President Jimmy Carter, wife Rosalynn and their entire family spent the Holidays at The Club Comanche Hotel enjoying its rich Danish Heritage and Culture.
