Club Smolna

Smolna - a music club located in Warsaw at 38 Smolna Street, opened on October 26, 2016. It is housed in a pre-war 1903 building, designed by architect Bronislaw Brochwicz-Rogóyski and commissioned by the Branicki family. The building was heavily damaged during World War II; after the war, the upper floors were rebuilt, and the basement retains traces from the Warsaw Uprising.[1][2]
Characteristic
Smolna is distinguished by a strict selection policy aimed at maintaining a suitable atmosphere for events. The club has also banned photography and filming inside the venue to ensure anonymity for attendees and full focus on the music.[3][4]
It also serves as an art space, with photographic and visual exhibitions held there, such as a presentation of works by Sven Marquardt, a well-known selector of Berlin's Berghain.[5]
Importance in the music scene
Smolna has hosted world-class artists, including Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Amelie Lens, Laurent Garnier, Lilly Palmer, as well as many promising newcomers. The club regularly organizes events to promote the development of electronic music, supporting both experienced artists and new talents.[6]
Smolna has repeatedly established partnerships with foreign clubs such as Berghain, Bassiani and Tresor.
