CodeEdit is a free and open-source[1] text and code editor for macOS, written in Swift. CodeEdit is currently still in development, and does not offer a binary yet.
Design[edit]
"...We'd like to keep our application light as TextEdit, but provide an experience similar to Xcode...Our goal is to develop an app that looks and feels like it was designed and developed by Apple..."[1]
~ CodeEdit's main design philosophies, retrieved from the GitHub repository
As stated above, CodeEdit was designed to mimic Xcode in design, with the lightweight functionality of TextEdit. Xcode's influence is very apparent with the design of the logo, menu, and editor itself.
License[edit]
CodeEdit currently uses the MIT License, and it has been stated by the developers that CodeEdit will stay free and open-source forever.[1]
