Codie Sanchez
Codie A. Sanchez (Born August 24, 1986, in Phoenix, AZ) is a Latina investor, writer, and venture capitalist. Currently, Codie is the Director of the Latin America & US Offshore Group of First Trust Portfolios and CEO/Founder of Codie Ventures, LLC. She started her career as a journalist where she was awarded the Howard Buffet Grant from Arizona State University in 2007 while still in undergrad. She set out her Junior year to live along the border regions in Juarez and Agua Prieta writing stories about the atrocities along the border. Her piece, Generation Abandoned, won the Robert F. Kennedy Award..[1] for Journalism[2] and two National SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists) Awards.
After leaving the world of journalism she broke into finance[3] where she was awarded the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Corporate Executive of the Year Award in 2015, the LAVCA list of The Most Powerful Women Investing in Latin America Tech in 2018, as well as the Alumni Society[4] Class of 2018 Changemakers List.
Sanchez has written award-winning articles and has been featured in publications like Forbes[5], Inc.[6], Fast Company, Business Wire, Huffington Post, Telemundo, Hispanic Executive, People En Español, as well as spoken across the Americas. Increasingly on her website and in her speeches, she focuses on Outsider Investing, how to invest and grow wealth without ever needing a silver spoon[7].

Sanchez has worked at numerous notable financial firms including The Vanguard Group, Goldman Sachs & Co., State Street Global Advisors, and First Trust Portfolios[8]
Her own endeavors include: the founding of Sellingsouth.com, a platform that allowed investors to share expertise in cross-border negotiations and expansion outside of the U.S into Latin America. This opened the doors for her to become an expert in the Latin American investing world, ThreadsRefined, an e-commerce stylist company, and Codie Ventures, the current platform through which she has become a speaker, entrepreneur, contributor, and venture investor[9]
Sanchez in addition, is a Venture Partner at seed stage venture fund Magma Partners in Latin America and Quake VC firm in the US. She also sits on the board as a strategic adviser to Hispanic Executive, a Latino focused business publication. In tandem with consulting as an interim COO to many of her portfolio companies such as health food CPG company Phat Fudge.
