Cody Dennison

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Cody Dennison (born March 11th, 1990), also known by his internet pseudonym Camelot331, is an American internet personality, singer, songwriter, guitarist, gaming streamer and social rights activist. He is best known for his videos discussing his career at GameStop as well as current event and for his 4-hour video game live-streams three nights a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights 9pm-1am EST).

Cody has released a number of songs with his band Dark Reverie, written and performed his own song the soulful, “What I Found”, and is currently self-employed and performing on YouTube full-time while living with his roommate Hana, a.k.a. Tiny Badger, who is also a YouTube streamer and content creator as well as an artist, animator, puppeteer and costume designer who has also created a majority of the artwork for Camelot331's YouTube channel.

Career

GameStop

Cody worked at GameStop for 11 years, starting at an entry level position and working his way up to Store manager. At the beginning of his career he worked under an unnamed manager he refers to as “Egg” and the entire time he worked under the unnamed district leader he refers to as “The Toolman”. Egg and The Toolman have often been central figures in Cody's videos expressing his numerous complaints about the culture of GameStop and a number the potentially illegal activities he witnessed during his time as an employee of the company.

After going public with his story “Egg” had to be banned from Cody's live streams due to harassment and threats of violence which he made while using his actual name as his YouTube name. “The Toolman” filed a lawsuit against Cody which was dismissed in March 2020 for lacking any merit.

On March 20th 2020 Cody uploaded audio he captured of a GameStop manager's conference call in regards to their plans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The audio was damning for the corporate leadership who had declared that they provided “essential services” and would continue to do business as normal despite their inability to provide any of the cleaning supplies advertised in a public press release to reassure the public that their stores were safe to shop at. As of the writing of this article the meeting audio has been picked up by a number of prominent gaming YouTubers such as Jim Sterling, CleanPrinceGaming, FantaVision, ACG, Spawnwave Media, and Upper Echelon Gamers while the pressure of public backlash began to immediately mount and causing the state of Pennsylvania to go so far as to revoke GameStop's business license.  An interesting addition to the end of the GameStop audio leak was a clip of David Hayter, best known for his role as tactical stealth operative “Solid Snake”, repeating Cody's catchphrase “Get on it, Dawg gon it!” which had been clipped from a personal birthday greeting received from David Hayter himself.

Music

Cody is a founding member of the band “Dark Reverie”. The band consists of Guitar: Cody Dennison, Bass: Cody Dennison/Connor Hinkle, Keys: Jacob Vinson, Vocals: Elmas MT.

They have released a number of singles including “Bring Forth the Light”, “Innocene Lost”, and “Answered”. They list their influences as Nightwish, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica and Turisas.

From their Facebook

“Formed in the summer of 2016 by Jacob Vinson and Cody Dennison. With one goal in mind. To make the best music possible. What we like, and what we believe others will. With the incredible Elmas on vocals. We are determined to create a rift in music and solidify ourselves among the greats!”

Occasionally Cody will break out the electric guitar and perform and sing on live stream. Some of the songs he is best known for performing live on stream are those from the band Tenacious D, most songs from the movie Labyrinth and he has been known to break into the Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater theme at a moment's notice.

Walmart

Cody worked for Walmart for 2 years before being confronted about his YouTube channel and was subsequently terminated with no reason listed as the cause for termination.

YouTube

His videos often depict a society of totally disposable people and the intentionally cruel working conditions they endure at the cost of their mental and physical health only to be discarded at a moment's notice for their endeavors.

Cody's early videos focused solely on GameStop but after his termination from Walmart began to broaden in scope to include Walmart, Amazon, Lowes, Fresh Market and he has continued to expand his coverage in an attempt to enact change in an ever more hostile retail/service industry.

Live Streams

When GameStop's stock plummeted in May 2019 Cody noticed his video "Man Works At GameStop 11 Years Tells All | 2007-2018 NIGHTMARE" suddenly started trending and getting thousands of views. Noting this Cody decided to stream The Elder Scrolls Oblivion- a game that was at that point 13 years old. Cody immediately had an audience of about 20-30 viewers which had steadily grown to an average of 300 viewers a stream by the end of 2019.  Cody typically drinks shots of liquor while playing games like the Metal Gear franchise, Doom and the Resident Evil series while conversing with the viewers in a party-like atmosphere. The live show normally has donation goals which may vary but the two standard goals are “Naked Snake” at $500 which involves Cody taking off his shirt and putting on a blue bandanna and speaking in his best Solid Snake voice or singing “Snake Eater” from Metal Gear Solid 3. If the donations hit a thousand dollars he drinks “Fight Milk” a concoction from the show Always Sunny in Philadelphia which consists of 2 crows eggs, milk and 2 shots of vodka which eventually changed to include ground crow as well. Cody's version of Fight Milk is 2 regular eggs, milk and whatever alcohol he has on hand and the occasional extra ingredient leading to some truly horrific concoctions such as the time he used Krakken rum and added crushed up fiery Doritos to the mix which Cody immediately regretted and has often remarked as being the worst thing he has ever tasted.

During one show his moderator Jefferson made a stretch goal of two thousand dollars for Cody to play Resident Evil 6. After a single four hour stream of Resident Evil 6 Cody has stoutly refused to play the game ever again despite it being in his top 3 most viewed livestreams and with fans willing to donate another $2k to watch his suffer thought another 4 hour stream of the game. Cody, who regularly drinks disgusting concoctions has remarked that playing Resident Evil 6 is the single worst experience he's ever had on his show.

At the conclusion of his 24-hour stream celebrating his 100k subscriber milestone Camelot had raised over $3k which resulted in a triple fight milk; the 6 eggs alone filled his standard sized fight milk glass. Switching to an over-sized mug Cody then added the rest of the ingredients and downed the entire mug in a single gulp.

Popularity and Termination

When Cody reached 20k subscribers an unknown party reached out to Walmart to advise them of the popularity of his YouTube channel. It's widely assumed that it was “The Toolman” who contacted Walmart in an attempt to pressure Cody into deleting his channel thereby erasing the content which he later tried to get taken down though a lawsuit which was later dismissed for lacking any merit.

When Cody was given an ultimatum by his employers to either delete his social media or risk termination he consulted with the friends he had made during his short time on YouTube and he ultimately chose his fans and supporters and an uncertain future over a job he despised and a guaranteed paycheck.

Due to his termination and a swell of fan support Cody has become a self-employed business owner streaming and editing video content full-time. Ironically he cites his termination as one of the keys to his success because it allowed him to focus on his channel full-time during a critical period of growth while allowing him greater freedom in what he could say in his videos due to no longer having to worry about restricting himself due to worries over what his employers might think about his content.

GoFundMe NASCAR Scam "Allegations" and Other Noteworthy Trolling

Cody crashed his 12 Dodge Charger NASCAR on June 5th 2021[1] causing bodywork damage. After 3 days of his community practically begging him to do so, Cody started a GoFundMe[2] to raise money to fix the damage. Cody said on multiple occasions that he needs between $10,000 and $15,000 to fix the damage however, YouTube creator Junk Media messaged his garage and found out it only cost $6,500, (something that is highly illegal, since businesses have confidentiality rules) which had also been told to the community on several occasions. Cody eventually raised $11,660 and only spent $6,500 on damage, in which Cody then spent $5,160 on brakes for his other NASCAR, which his community was fully aware of since before hitting his original goal, hence why it had been so high in the first place. Sadly, Junk Media could not take his failed attempt to slander and harass just Cody, and he has since decided to dox and harass Cody's viewers and donators, messaging their employers, families, and friends with lies and slander, some of which were allegations of sexually assaulting a minor.

When confronted by his actions, the typical "prove it or you are lying" is used, even though these are clearly fake accounts, one named "Paula Blake" using an image of a broadcaster named Susanna Reid, saying the same exact things that other people had received, as well as noted Junk Media going on and on about whether in comment sections of creators personal videos, social medias, or even phone numbers. His viewers have also taken to sending food, packages, and other insane things to content creators attached to Cody. Junk Media's discord currently has close to 100 people in it, almost all of which who share personal information of said viewers, donators, and other YouTubers. Supposedly Radical Rick, another content creator who uses their platform to slander and harass other creators, was the one who turned Junk Media onto Cody, claiming Cody manipulates his audience by titling his streams with depressing titles, the words "Dead Inside" being used frequently.

Although these are clearly jokes, some people, whether under the guise of jealousy or envy towards Cody, have tried spinning this in a way that Cody is simply doing this for donations, even though a stream can be titled the simplest thing, and Cody will still make donations. Cody states time and time again that the link is there if people wish to donate, but are in no way forced to do so, whether donations through super chats, or when his GoFundMe had still been active. Supposedly the trolls all attend and spam dislikes, as well as ask ridiculous questions in chat, of course under a fake account, made clear when they openly brag about it in the previously mentioned Discord server, but for some reason just cannot seem to grasp that concept for they are too far gone in their assault to even attempt to see it for what it is.

A previous Mod that had been somewhat close to Cody and his community, Jeff Brister, had been found to be giving information to the aforementioned creator Radical Rick, with no attempt in hiding his betrayal, which a lot of people took very harshly. Brister described Cody's donators and certain viewers to be cultists, Rick taking this information, and claiming in a video that his community is leading in a direction of Jonestown, an incident in which a man led followers to their death via poisoned kool-aid. Rick has since stated that he meant it as a metaphor, but clearly holds to his belief as fact, silencing anyone who tries to talk against his narrative he is so desperate to push whether approached nicely or vulgarly, usually exclaiming about how many "hot women" he had slept with the night before, completely disregarding the information given. Junk Media on the other hand refuses to back down, continuing to jeopardize the lives of those who support Cody by spreading their blatant lies out to his followers.

Fantavision

Early in his YouTube career one of Cody's stream mods reached out to FantaVision who has since then invited Cody to his podcast several times and the two will often show up in each other's live streams. After Cody reached 100k subscribers FantaVision remarked

“Everything he's accomplished is a complete mystery to me and him alike. He's a likable guy no doubt, but good lord, he makes more in streams than I see massive channels making.”

as a testament to the sudden rise and popularity of Camelot331 and his ability to sustain himself on just his YouTube career at a time when most channels are struggling to grow.

Rekita law Podcast

Cody was invited to an episode of Rekita Law's podcast to discuss a lawsuit filed by Cody's former GameStop District Leader over the content of Cody's videos discussing his career at GameStop. Tara Babcock

Model and Gaming Personality Tara Babcock invited Cody to play a drinking game “two truths and a lie” with her on a live stream early in his career. They had a great time together on stream despite the fact Cody was terrible at the game and Tara had to make excuses to drink her alcohol because she was getting tired of being sober while watching him shoot tequila after every round.

Chris Smalls Interview

In his first ever interview Cody had Chris Smalls on as a guest to discuss his termination from Amazon for trying to protect his employees from the Corvid-19 virus. During the interview they discussed plans for the upcoming "May Day Protests" to fight for workers rights. The protests were to include a number of businesses across the U.S. but the movement went international with essential workers around the world protesting the poor working conditions and lack of personal protective equipment necessary to protect their health. Chris and Cody spoke for more than an hour before and after the interview because they found common ground in that they were just regular guys who complained about their working conditions and found their lives flipped upside-down for speaking out.
