Cody Haddon (born September 8, 1998) is an Australian mixed martial artist.[2]
Early life[edit]
Haddon was born in Perth and began his martial arts journey at a Taekwando gym at six years old.[3] By the age of 10, Haddon had trained and competed in Karate, Muay Thai and Taekwando.[3]
Even though competing professionally in MMA was always the end goal, from the age of 10 until 18, Haddon concentrated on Boxing and BJJ, actively training and competing in both disciplines separately.[3] In this time he became a 3-time Australian junior boxing champion and a 4-time IBJJF Pan Pacific gold medalist, which brought him to California in 2017 to compete in the World No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship.[3]
Haddon made his amateur MMA debut in May 2018 and competed 5 times as an amateur in a 16 month period, winning all bouts by stoppage.[3]
Mixed martial arts career[edit]
Haddon made his professional MMA debut in October 2020 for Australia's Eternal MMA promotion and walked away with a first round TKO victory over a much more experienced opponent who had 18 professional fights to his name at the time.[4] Haddon found himself thrust into the main event slot in his second professional fight and secured a second round TKO win to keep his unbeaten record and 100% finish rate.[5]
Haddon's next fight is booked for 5th June 2021 on Eternal MMA 60 against their current Flyweight champion Stephen Erceg, who is coming up to the Bantamweight division to face Cody after his initially booked opponent for the Flyweight title was injured.[2]
