Cokie Ponikvar (Born November 15, 2000) is a wine educator, and content creator.[1] and former sommelier at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto[2]. She produces educational material on wine styles[2], blind wine tasting techniques[3] and industry trends, and is pursuing advanced wine certifications including the Master of Wine (MW) and Master Sommelier (MS) programs[4]. Ponikvar has built a following of over 250, 000 followers[3] through her social media presence, where she shares content aimed at both wine enthusiasts and professionals[5]. She has worked with celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker[6], and has been featured in publications including Rouleur, Wine Enthusiast, and Vineroutes[7]. In 2025, she won the IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine Communications award for her work in wine education[1]

Early life and Education

Born in Ontario, Canada, Ponikvar studied Classical Civilizations at Trinity College at the University of Toronto[8][9]. She is currently pursuing Master of Wine and Master Sommelier[10].

Career

Ponikvar has worked in hospitality, including as a sommelier at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto at age 21..[2] She has also participated in international wine harvests, including in France[10]. She has been involved in wine judging, including with the International Wine & Spirit Competition[1]

In addition to her hospitality work, Ponikvar operates the Instagram account @cokiesworldofwine, where she shares wine education content covering grape varieties, wine styles, blind tasting, and industry commentary[10]. Her certifications include Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers[6], and WSET Level 4 Diploma[1].
