Colander Ethan Ereads (December 19, 2009 - October 17, 2025), known professionally as ColanXP, was an American rapper and singer. He was known for his 2017 single "Don’t Hate Me", which was viral on Spotify after it was deleted. As well as by his other single "Orange", with American rapper yvngxcoco and Marckwithdat. It began a popularity on SoundCloud. He explored music with hip hop, trap, and rage.

Early life and education

Colander Ethan Ereads was born on December 19, 2009, in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in New York, seeing his family and grandparents. His mother forced him to go to Houston High School to pass his grades. Ereads started playing sports around that time with his friends. He later dropped out of school in 2016.

Career

2017-2018: Beginnings

Ereads’ career began on June 17, 2017, with the song "Don’t Hate Me". It was uploaded on Spotify and gained 1 million streams as of January 2018. On March 8, 2018, he went to Columbia Records to contribute his music. The contributor later declined his request for his song "Don’t Hate Me" and it was deleted from Ereads’ artist account. He started uploading his tracks on SoundCloud.

2018-2019: Breakthrough and “Take Me Home”

On August 14, 2018, Ereads released “Take Me Home”, which led to his album “ol”. The track later received an email for SoundCloud, it was announced that the track was deleted due to a Copyright strike by administrators who demonstrated the beat that was created by other rappers. Ereads later became inactive on SoundCloud seven years later.

On September 1, 2019, Ereads collaborated with American rapper yvngxcoco on the single “9xan”. The track became a popular track on Yvngxcoco’s account, but later, he deleted the track due to hate comments.

2025-present: Playin 20

On November 2020, an artist Kashkeni started with the single “playin 20” with Ereads. It was initially leaked on an Instagram snippet while it was private. On October 3, 2025, the single was released.

Legal issues

On September 5, 2017, a warrant for Ereads’ arrest was issued by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office after a report allegedly stated that Ereads had shot and killed a student in the high school bathroom with a knife and Glock. The student was rushed to the hospital and he was pronounced dead at the scene, including that he was lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom floor. Ereads was expelled for 90 days of school and arrested for 12 years. He was charged with attempted murder.

Death

On October 17, 2025, Ereads went to a Chinese store when it was later closed. He saw a pair of pills which it was not used and started swallowing them in his mouth. He felt dizzy and started to collapse on the floor, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A person saw Ereads on the floor bleeding from his nose. He was rushed to the hospital, but the doctors didn’t discover the cause of death. On November 20, 2025, it was announced that he died from toxic levels of Codeine and Carbon monoxide poisoning.
