Collini-Center

The Collini-Center is an apartment and office complex located on the northern edge of downtown Mannheim directly on the Neckar.
Architecture
The 95-meter-high building consists of a higher residential tower and a lower office tower, which can be reached via a two-story passage. The office wing houses the city's technical offices and other municipal facilities (media education, etc.).

The Collini-Steg connects the Collini-Center directly with the Neckarstadt-Ost district. Opposite are the three striking high-rise buildings, each 100 meters high, of the Neckaruferbebauung Nord. It was built on the site of the Collinistraße depot of the Mannheim tramway, which was closed in 1971, on the occasion of the 1975 Federal Garden Show and the associated urban development concept. Cosimo Alessandro Collini gave his name to Collinistraße and thus to the Collini Center. The residential tower is privately owned.
The three-tiered tower-shaped structure with honeycomb balcony structure is characteristic. Originally, a 150-meter office tower with 50 stories was to be built, surrounded by five-story residential and school buildings. Here, according to an idea of the architect, living, working and leisure were to be combined under one roof. After a ground investigation, the height had to be reduced to 95 meters and the use was also rescheduled. Today, around 1300 people live in the residential tower. The Collini Center is one of the tallest high-rise buildings in Baden-Württemberg.
