Rt. Revd. Dr. Collins Olufemi Babalola is the current bishop of Anglican Diocese of Ajayi Crowther.
Collins Olufemi Babalola was born in Ibadan sixty years ago to parents from Modakeke and Ile-Ife, Osun State. He was educated in Modakeke (1969-1980), graduated in English Studies from the University of Ife (1986), and earned advanced degrees from the University of Ibadan and Lead City University. His theological training occurred at Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan (1992-1994) and Crowther Graduate College Seminary, Abeokuta. His Christian journey began with a commitment to Christ on December 31, 1979, followed by a rededication and baptism in the Holy Spirit in 1980.
After returning to the Anglican Church in 1981, Babalola co-founded The Messiah Evangelical and Revival Team in Modakeke in 1985, leading it until 1988. While at university (1982-1986), he served as Vice-President of the Evangelical Christian Union. He was ordained a Deacon in June 1994 and a Priest in December 1994 in Ibadan Diocese. His early service included a role as Diocesan Missioner of Oke Osun Diocese from January 1996 to December 1997.
Within the Ibadan Anglican Diocese, he served in numerous capacities including as Canon (2002) and Pioneer Archdeacon of Ijokodo Archdeaconry (2007). He played a pivotal role in establishing several churches in the diocese. He has been a frequent guest preacher and teacher across the Church of Nigeria and served as an elected Synod delegate in 2011, 2017, and 2019.
His ecumenical leadership includes roles as General Secretary for the Christian Council of Nigeria, Oyo State (2008-2011), the Reinhard Bonnke Ibadan Campaign committee (2009), and the Christian Association of Nigeria, Oyo State (2011-2016). He is a life member of the Bible Society of Nigeria. He is also a published author, with works including Keeping Hope Alive (2016) and Your Grief Shall Turn to Joy (2005, reprinted 2016).
In recognition of his impactful ministry, he has received numerous awards. He is married to Professor (Mrs.) Chinedum Babalola, immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, and they are blessed with children.
