The Commodore TV Game 2000K and Commodore TV Game 3000H are dedicated first-generation home video game consoles released by Commodore International in 1975 in the USA and the UK.[1][2][3]
Games[edit]
Even if the devices are very different in design, they are essentially the same inside. You can play the following four Pong-based games with both variants:[1][2]
- Target (with optional light gun)
- Tennis
- Soccer
- Squash
All games are playable with up to four players at the same time and in different difficulty levels. For this purpose, the games have to be set in the Commodore TV Game 2000K with a turntable while they are pre-selected in the Commodore TV Game 3000H with a slider on the device. The two levels of difficulty are set using buttons or sliding switches.
Overview[edit]
The Commodore TV Game 2000K was black and could handle up to four knobs, two of which could be parked in the unit's pockets.[2] In the case of the Commodore TV Game 3000H, on the other hand, the housing color White was selected and the four controllers were designed as sliding controls, which connoisseurs regard, at least today, as a step backwards in the design to the detriment of operation.[2] The devices could alternatively be operated with the included power supply or with six AA batteries.[1][2] These devices were distributed only in Europe.[2] The inscription for it was English or German.[2] The device was therefore designed in its known variants for the PAL video standard.[2] Individual details today indicate that even an NTSC version, presumably for the US market, was at least thought about, if not prepared.[2]
