Condé Nast Johansens is a luxury reference guide for independent travellers, from the publishers of Vogue, GQ, Condé Nast Traveller and Glamour, founded in 2008, based in Vogue House, Hanover Square, London, W1S 1JU.

Condé Nast Johansens produces an illustrated reference guide to independently owned and boutique hotels, with a readership of 5.8 million, the Guides' distribution now totals 28,500 worldwide. Hotels, spas and venues are inspected annually by trained Local Experts resulting in a highly curated collection both in the printed Guides and online www.johansens.com. The Condé Nast Johansens readers are located globally and are frequent travellers, with 83% of respondents travelling abroad 1-4 times a year for either a holiday, short break or the weekend * source January 2017 online reader survey.

History and Profile[edit]

Condé Nast Johansens was first published in 1982 as Derek Johansens recommended hotels in Great Britain, Johansens established a readership and extended the guide to recommend hotels further afield. He developed guides to get an idea of ​​what can be expected or to be despaired to a given location.[1] The Johansens Guides and website were acquired by Condé Nast Publications Ltd in September 2001 who went on to develop the brand Condé Nast Johansens.

In 2013, Condé Nast Johansens redesigned the website, and introduced venues to the collection. The printed guides were redesigned in 2014 and 2018.

Condé Nast Johansens Today[edit]

Charlotte Evans[2] was appointed Group Publishing Director on 5 November 2012, as the successor to Andy Warren who retired after 16 years in the role.[3]

Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence[edit]

The annual Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence are held in London each November, celebrating independent hotels, spas and venues. The awards are based on online voting, Local Expert reports and guest feedback collected over the previous 12 months. BE Grand Resort In Bohol receives Condé Nast Johansens’ Award 2018 For Excellence[3].
