Congleton Musical Theatre is an amateur theatre group based in Congleton, England.
Congleton Musical Theatre was founded in 1932 as Congleton Amateur Operatic Society.[1]
Congleton Musical Theatre puts on one performance a year at Daneside Theatre.
The theatre group is a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.[2]
History
In October 1935 some members formed the breakaway group Congleton Players.[3][4]
During Congleton’s 1972, a performance of Lilac Time was performed for 10 days.[5]
The authors of Them Thar Hills, Ken Allen and Doug Yard came to see the November 1977 production of Them Thar Hills.[6]
Prior to the opening of Daneside Theatre in 1984, Congleton Musical Theatre performed at Congleton Town Hall.[7]
Congleton Musical Theatre took its current name in 2009.[8]
In 2011 Congleton Musical theatre was awarded a £250 grant from Cheshire East Council.[9]
In 2022 Congleton Musical theatre was awarded a grant from Congleton Inclosure Trust.[10]
