From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Connected: The Joe Polish Story is a 2018 film by Academy Award-winning director Nick Nanton and starring Joe Polish, Richard Branson, Ariana Huffington, and Tony Robbins.[1]

Connected tells the story of Joe Polish’s life, from his humble beginnings as a teenager struggling with addiction, through his erratic first attempt at running a business, to his rise as a marketing guru, global “connector”, and founder of Genius Recovery, an educational platform and community for addiction recovery.

The film explores Polish’s argument that the “opposite of addiction is connection”.[2]

Plot[edit]

Growing up in Arizona, Joe Polish becomes heavily involved with drugs while at high school, using marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, alcohol, and LSD regularly to deal with the trauma of being sexually abused as a child.[3] At one point, Joe is so dependent on drugs, he decides to snort cocaine instead of attending his high school graduation.[4]

After realizing he is on a path of self destruction and weighing in at only 90 pounds, Joe decides to turn his life around.[5]

After getting clean, Joe founds a carpet cleaning business which struggles financially until he has an epiphany about marketing. He throws himself into the intense study of both marketing and self-development, going on to become a renowned speaker, author, addiction coach, and founder of Genius Network.

Production[edit]

According to Film Daily, during the production Joe Polish knew that a film was being made about him, but had no idea who the anonymous backer of the film was. At a screening at the Genius Network Annual Event, it was finally revealed that the backer was entrepreneur Devang Patel.[6]

Festival screenings[edit]

Connected: The Joe Polish Story premiered at the Phoenix Film Festival, in Phoenix Arizona in 2019.[7]
