Connexin Limited is a technology company specialising in building and operating Smart City Infrastructure to support the Internet of Things. Alongside this, Connexin offers broadband services to residential customers in the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire area. Connexin has the vision to reinvent how we communicate using the Internet.
Founded in May 2006 by Furqan Alamgir and Alex Yeung as a bedroom hobby,[1] Connexin is now an international business with customers globally. Their main office depot is located in Hull, East Yorkshire[2]. Their company slogan reads 'We are on a mission to connect people and things to the Internet'.
Connexin's Smart City division is a program driven by emerging technologies and trends such as IoT (Internet of Things) and machine learning. The company offers technology solutions in the form of Smart Security, Smart Waste, Smart Parking, Smart Cities, Smart Health and Smart Mobility. In October 2017, Connexin secured a £10m investment to scale up and expand its Smart City infrastructure as a service model for municipalities.[3]
The company offers alternative broadband services to residents in Hull to compete with KCOM. Kingston Communications owns and operates all of Hull's fibre-optic cable network and as a result, has historically had a monopoly over the city.
Connexin was recently named one of the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Technology Companies in the Northern Tech Awards.[2]
