The Constitution of the Young Communist League of Britain is a publication of the Young Communist League, the youth wing of the Communist Party of Britain,[1] which outlines the structure of the League and its principles. The constitution was most recently updated at the League's 50th Congress, in August 2021.

About[edit]

The League describes the constitution on their website:

This explains our organisation’s rules, structure, and expectations of our members. This will give you a firm understanding of how the League works, and how democracy is upheld within it.

Physical copies of the constitution are produced in the headquarters of Young Communist League at Ruskin House.

Synopsis[edit]

Name and Basis of the Organisation[edit]

This section of the constitution describes the basic information about the League, such as its name, logo and ideology.

Part C explains the League's autonomy.

The League is organisationally independent; it decides its own policy, controls its own finances and elects its own structures. It is the youth organisation of the Communist Party of Britain.

Its ability to decide its own policy is what makes it able to run its own magazine, with views from YCL members.
