Content Partners is an entertainment industry investment fund and asset management company based in the U.S.[1]

History[edit]

The company was co-founded by Steven Kram and Steven Blume in 2005, and specializes in acquiring and monetizing libraries, films, TV shows, and related royalties.[2][3] In May 2007, Mark Cuban, Todd Wagner, and Paul Wachter took steps to back the firm’s work in the entertainment business.[4] The company is the owner of the Revolution Studios and FilmDistrict catalogs along with all of the CSI shows.[5][6]

Acquisitions[edit]

In a deal with Goldman Sachs in 2013, Content Partners and LionTree Advisors acquired a 50% stake in the CSI television franchise, one of the most popular shows in television history.[7] 400 million dollars was the projected value of the transaction.[8][9][10]

Revolution Studios was purchased by Content Partners LLC from Fortress in 2017. Insidious, Insidious 2, Olympus Has Fallen, Looper, Evil Dead, Parker, Drive, Pompeii, Old Boy, Red Dawn, and Soul Surfer were among the titles the company purchased from FilmDistrict in 2020.[11][12][13]

The company became the owner of an independent library of premium content with the acquisition of Revolution Studios, encompassing 45 Revolution films that include Maid in Manhattan, Anger Management, Daddy Day Care, America’s Sweethearts, Hellboy, and White Chicks.[14] These films, combined with the GK Films titles Revolution Studios previously acquired (Hugo, The Tourist, Edge of Darkness, The Rum Diary, and The Young Victoria) and titles from Morgan Creek Entertainment (Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, True Romance), altogether total 126 motion pictures. It collectively earned more than $7.1 billion in box office receipts, as well as 240 television episodes.[15]

Awards[edit]

  • Content Partners was named among the Top Negotiators That Have Kept Hollywood Humming: Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report in 2020.[16]
