Cookie Run: Kingdom (Hangul: 쿠키런: 킹덤 ; RR: Kukileon: Kingdeom; Japanese: クッキーラン:キングダム; Thai: คุกกี้รัน: คิงดอม) is a South Korean online mobile game developed by Devsisters. Cookie Run: Kingdom is set in a world of sentient gingerbread cookies who were brought to life in an oven by an unnamed witch and have since escaped her evil clutches. Cookie Run: Kingdom was released in Winter 2020 worldwide, and had its official English release on 21 January 2021.[1] Cookie Run: Kingdom has many mechanics, including a Story Mode which is called "World Exploration", a PVP mode which is called "Kingdom Arena and Guilds. Cookie Run: Kingdom is available on iOS and [[Android (operating system)|Android]] devices. Cookie Run: Kingdom collaborated with KFC for the Cookie Run: Kingdom x KFC pack until 8 February 2021.[2] Cookie Run: Kingdom also collaborated with the Japanese video game series Sonic The Hedgehog[3]

Gameplay[edit]

Cookie Run: Kingdom has many mechanics, like building your Kingdom using decorations and production buildings, which allow you to get resources and different modes including Bounties, Kingdom Arena, Guild Battle, Tower of Sweet Chaos, Tropical Soda Islands, and World Exploration. In these modes, you can battle with different Cookies, which can be unlocked via the Gacha system. The Gacha system is unlocked at the beginning of Cookie Run: Kingdom. In the Gacha, you can spend 300 crystals, A currency of Cookie Run: Kingdom, or Cookie Cutters to unlock cookies. There are also balloon expeditions where you can send your cookies to an expedition and receive toppings.

Battling[edit]

PvP (Player VS Player) and PvE (Play VS Enemy) are common mechanics in Cookie Run: Kingdom. Before you do a battle, you can select your cookies and treasures. When you battle, You can fight using your cookies either automatically or by pressing their icon. In the PvP mode, it is automatically set to Auto mode, which makes it so the cookies automatically battle. You can also increase the speed. If at least one of your cookies finishes the level, you win. In World Exploration, you get three stars if none of your Cookies perish, two stars if one perished and one star if more than two cookies perish. If none of your cookies survive, it ends with a defeat. There are many different bosses and enemies to fight with when you are battling.[citation needed]

Modes[edit]

There are many modes in Cookie Run: Kingdom, each with its own purpose. The Kingdom Arena is a PvP mode, which allows you to battle other players. World Exploration is a mode where you can battle stages and also get to know stories in Cookie Run: Kingdom. Bounties are a place for you to get Skill Powders, which can upgrade Cookies. The Tropical Soda Islands are a place where you can save islands from being under the control of the Durianeers, who are pirates that are taking over the Tropical Sode Islands. The Tower of Sweet Chaos is a level where you can complete trays to get Chaos Cake Pieces, which can buy certain buildings and decorations and experience, and the Guild Battle is unlocked when unlocking Guilds and lets you battle a Red Velvet Dragon for torches to use in the Gacha.[citation needed]

Cookies and Treasures[edit]

As the name states, there are many cookies in Cookie Run: Kingdom which you battle and run with. There are five rarities, Ancient, Legendary, Epic, Rare and Common. There are 56 cookies currently in Cookie Run: Kingdom, the most recent one is Raspberry Cookie. There are also treasures, toppings, skill powders, and levels. You can level up your Cookies to make them more powerful. There are soulstones in Cookie Run: Kingdom which come from events and the Gacha system. These soulstones can unlock cookies and also promote cookies to make them more powerful. Each cookie has a skill, which is more powerful depending on the rarity of the cookie. You can use Skill Powders, which come from Bounties and from winning levels in World Exploration to upgrade skills. Each cookie also has a skill type. These include Magic, Healing, Support, Ambush, Charge, Bomber, Defense, and Ranged. There are also toppings that you can use to upgrade a certain feature of a cookie, like their attack. You can also collect experience from Cookie Houses, a building you can put in your Kingdom, the Fountain of Abundance, and beating stages, which lets you level up the cookies.[citation needed]

Story[edit]

As Cookie Run: Kingdom is an RPG, meaning there is role-play, which in Cookie Run: Kingdom is a story mode. The game tells the story of the cookies getting used to their new lives in their new Kingdom after escaping from the witch who brought them to life and has an overarching narrative of the cookies set out on an expedition to rediscover the lost Vanilla Kingdom before it is seized by Dark Enchantress Cookie.

Development[edit]

The early development of Cookie Run: Kingdom is mostly unknown, However, some videos show early versions of Cookie Run: Kingdom from 2019, these videos contain features that were early versions of the modern features or were completely scrapped. Cookie Run: Kingdom was announced in Early 2019 and was to be released later that year, but that did not happen and Cookie Run: Kingdom was delayed to early 2021.[citation needed]

Voice Acting and Languages[edit]

There are currently five languages, Korean, English, Thai, Chinese (Taiwan), and Japanese. Voice Acting is a feature of Cookie Run: Kingdom. While only Japanese and Korean dubs are available, however, an English one will come soon.[4]

Reception[edit]

Cookie Run: Kingdom has gotten mostly positive reviews, usually with minor problems.[5]
