Cooky Chua
Cooky Chua is a Filipino singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the OPM band Color It Red.
At the age of 15, Cooky embarked on her musical journey as a college freshman at the College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, where she first took the stage at Heartbeat. Despite her initial shyness, she captivated audiences, often performing with her back turned to them.
As the 1990s ushered in the explosion of the band scene, Cooky, now 18, emerged as a rock goddess in a predominantly male-dominated arena. During this era, she earned numerous accolades alongside Color It Red, including Awit Awards for Best Performance by a New Group (1995) and Best Performance in a Duet (1997). In 2002, Cooky's remarkable vocal prowess was recognized with the Best Vocal Performance (Rock) award from Katha.
Her achievements reached international acclaim as she secured the Golden Vocalist of Asia trophy in Hanoi, a prestigious honor she received a year ahead of Bayang. Cooky's journey from a shy performer at Heartbeat to a celebrated figure in the rock scene remains an inspiring testament to her musical prowess and resilience.[1]
