Cornell & Carr is the Australian country music duo of Matt Cornell and Mike Carr. Their debut single “Be In The Band” debuted in November 2018.[1] The album “We Go Way Back” released in January 2019.[2] The idea for the album was born from what was to be a one-off show at the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival.[3] September 2019 Cornell & Carr released their single "Things I leave behind".[4] On O3 October 2019 the single was number 1 on Australian Country Radio Top 10 Australia’s Leading Country Music Chart.[5][citation needed]

Matt Cornell is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in his own right; he’s been a member of iconic rock band the Baby Animals, and musical director for Adam Brand for nine years. He’s released four albums, performed at Groundwater Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Sydney Rocks Country Music Festival and Summer Moon Country Music Festival. Matt was nominated for CMC Music Awards New Oz Artist of the Year finalist 2014.[6] Matt was nominated for two Golden Guitar Awards in 2018 for Best New Talent and Male Artist of the year. [7] [8]

Mike Carr is one of Australia's most celebrated songwriters & performers. As a songwriter he has written some of the most popular Australian country songs of the past few decades. His catalogue includes; ‘THE ANZAC’ sung by Adam Brand. In January 2003 "The Anzac" won the CMAA Award for Heritage Song of the Year.[9] ‘New England Highway’, ‘Get Loud’ and the recent ‘Milestones’ (Adam Brand), ‘Real People’ written with Melinda Schneider) won Golden Guitar APRA Song of the Year 2005.[10] ‘It Don't Buy You Love’ for McAlister Kemp & most recently Adam Harvey’s “Id rather be a highway Man’. Mike has released two solo albums –with Golden Guitar Winner for his songwriting, eight-time nominee for APRA song of the year, and two-time ARIA winner for work done by his hilarious alter ego Buddy Goode. Mike created the comedy character Buddy Goode in 2008 and was signed to Universal Music Australia. His 2nd album "The One and Only Buddy Goode" was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 2011 ARIA Awards.[11] In 2012 his 3rd release "Unappropriate" won the ARIA for best comedy album.[12] In 2014 his 4th release “It’s a Buddy Goode Christmas” also took out the ARIA for “Best Comedy Release”.[13]

2015 Matt Cornell and Mike Carr joined Adam Brand (musician) and fellow country music artists Travis Collins and Drew McAlister to create the band Adam Brand and the Outlaws.[14] Their album "Adam Brand and the Outlaws" was nominated for ARIA Award for Best Country Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2016.[15] The supergroup group went onto to win a CMC award for highest selling Australian artist in 2017.[16] After working together in the Outlaw's and later doing some song writing together Matt and Mike realised that Matt's musician parents Wayne Cornell from The Delltones and club performer Cheryl Assange and Mike's musician father Warren Carr had all previously performed together.

19 November 2019 it was announced Cornell & Carr have received two nominations in the 2020 Golden Guitars Tamworth Country Music Awards in categories Contemporary Country Album of the Year for their album “We Go Way Back” and Country Music Capital News Group or Duo of the Year.[17][18][19]

22 February 2020 on Cornell & Carr's facebook page Matt Cornell and Mike Carr announced that Ian Dickson (TV personality) commonly known as “Dicko” would now be their Manager.[20] Dicko has worked in the record industry for 20 years. He is well known in Australia as a judge on Australian Idol 2003 – 2004 and 2007. [21]
