Cory Althoff

Cory Althoff (born October 9, 1988) is an American author, programmer, and

speaker. Having attended Clemson University, graduating with a Political Science degree, he

dedicated a year of self-study in programming to land a job as a software engineer at eBay,

followed by a position as a software engineer at a startup in Palo Alto.

Althoff was brought up to the public’s attention when The Next Web[1] listed his book, The Self-Taught Programmer[2], as one

of the ten books that will help you become a better software engineer. In turn, Cory created a

self-taught programmer community with over 200K developers through his popular Facebook

group, blog, newsletter, and Udemy course. In 2019, Cory gave the opening keynote speech at

Python Conference.

Cory is also widely known for his comedic marriage-related content he posts on his TikTok

account. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and daughter.
