Costa Barcelona
Costa Barcelona is a region in the Spanish Catalonia. This region is located between the Costa Brava (the coastal strip above Costa Barcelona) and Costa Daurada and is a 100 kilometer long coastal strip at the Mediterranean Sea. Since 2012, this region has been officially recognized by the Catalan government.
Costa Barcelona consists of the provinces Maresme, Baix Llobregat, Garraf, Alt Penedès, Vallès Occidental and Vallès Oriental. Together with 'Paisatges Barcelona' and Pirineus Barcelona, Costa Barcelona forms the Barcelona region.
The capitals of the regions of Costa Barcelona are Mataró (Maresme), Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Baix Llobregat), Vilanova i la Geltrú (Garraf), Vilafranca del Penedes (Alt Penedès), Terrassa and Sabadell (Vallès Occidental) and Granollers (Vallès Oriental). Costa Barcelona has a total of 159 municipalities with an area of 3,095.64 square kilometers. The six regions are part of the province of Barcelona and are all located near the coast.[1]
