Council for Maryland Archaeology
The Council for Maryland Archaeology (CfMA) is one of several professional councils and state societies for archaeology in the eastern United States. [1]
Founded in 1976,[2] the council promotes the conservation of archaeological resources in the U.S. state of Maryland.[3] Every year in April, the Council sponsors Maryland Archaeology Month,[4] promoting history and archaeology through talks, archaeological excavations.[5]
The council has coordinated state research [6] and assisted in the development of professional standards for archaeology in Maryland.[7], and also sponsors Maryland's certification program for archaeological technicians [8]
