Council of International Schools (CIS)
The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a not-for-profit membership organization for schools and universities, all member institutions are interested in improving their international programs to develop students as global citizens. CIS aims to enable member organizations to achieve and deliver the highest standards in International Education and continually improve the outcome of student learning.[1].

Schools Members[edit]
CIS has a community of 740 member schools in 116 countries, with more than 530 of these schools being accredited by CIS [2] with more schools seeking accreditation [3]
CIS has its own protocol for international accreditation [2] but also has collaborations with other accreditation agencies such as Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA/CESS)[4], Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).[5] and The Commission on International Education at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) [6].
