History

Courtyard formed as freshman at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY during an impromptu jam in the campus' courtyard. [1]

The band started with original members including Max Klot and Ryan Richter, who lived across the hall from each other. Playing shows originally without a bass player, they tried out and acquired Michael Reineke to play bass, whose recorded audition for the band is the bass track heard on Spinning from the band's debut record.

Later, members Roman Barnes, Ryan, and Everett joined the band, who were each individually involved in the RIT music scene as part of their own bands.
