Originally called Bear Flat Ranch, Cosy Del was sold in 1872 to the Tay brothers, becoming the toll gate for the John Brown Toll Road, and a way station in 1878. Cosy Del became popular as a resort for travelers coming from the Mojave desert to the San Bernardino Valley and remained so until 1898 when the ranch was lost due to taxes being owed.
