Craig Jones (Martial Artist)

Craig Jones (born July 17, 1991, Adelaide, Australia) is an Australian Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner.[1] He is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Lachlan Giles, and holds titles from IBJJF[2] and Polaris Pro Grappling.[3][4]

He won the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Asia & Ocenia Trials in 2014[5] and 2016.[6]

Jones took 4th place at the 2017 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship, behind Alexandre Ribiero.[7]

He has primarily competed representing Absolute MMA Academy, but as of 2019 spends some of his time training at Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan.[8][9]

Notable victories[edit]

He has victories over notable combat sports competitors such as Keenan Cornelius,[10] Leondro Lo,[11] Rousimar Palhares,[12] Jake Shields,[13] and Chael Sonnen.[14][15]

In July 2019, he defeated mixed martial artist and former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight contender Anthony "Rumble" Johnson via heel hook at Submission Underground 9.[16] Jones won the grappling contest in under one minute, despite there being an over 60 pound weight difference between Jones and Johnson.[17]
