Craze Below The Wind (Chinese: 疯夏之箱) is a 2022 Malaysian road trip comedy film. Set in Sabah, the film tells the story of two people who embark on a wild and chaotic road trip escape journey across Sabah, as they are tasked to safely deliver a mysterious luggage from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, all the while being chased.

The film was released on 26 May 2022 in cinemas in Malaysia.

Synopsis

Set in Sabah, Ah Long is forced into smuggling and has to safely deliver a mysterious luggage, in order to save his troublemaker sister who gets in trouble with the criminal gang. To do this, he has to deliver the luggage from Tawau all the way to Kota Kinabalu. But in the midst of smuggling, he accidentally cuffs the luggage onto a tourist Aisha's wrist. Unable to uncuff themselves, the handcuffed duo now have no choice but to work together and save themselves, as they journey across the state with the suitcase, while escaping from both the criminal gang and police going after them. How will the funny trip go?[1]

Production

The film is directed by Chua Soon Min, also known as Katak Chua. The film hopes to spark tourists' interest in the state, promoting Sabah as a preferred destination. Around 80% of the crew is from Sabah.[2]

Filming took place in the state of Sabah, and showcases various beautiful scenic locations of Sabah, including Tawau, Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Inanam and Papar among others.[3][4]

The film also showcases the uniqueness of the languages and cultures of the people, as well as the state policies on wildlife protection.[5]

Release

The film was released in cinemas on 26 May 2022 in Malaysia.[6][7] It was originally scheduled to be released in April 2020 but was postponed for over two years due to the pandemic.[8]
