Creating Canada's Best Managed Companies
Canada’s Best Managed Companies (CBMC) is a Canadian business awards program, led by Deloitte Canada and sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith school of business of Queens University and TMX Group. The award is given annually since 1993 and can be received multiple times.[1][2][3]
The award process is an extensive one and the main application requires the company to receive consultation and coaching by Deloitte Private, Deloitte's Management Consulting firm.[4]
Criteria
Up until 2020, the award was given to 469 companies (some more than once). [5] The award recognizes excellence in privately-owned companies, or companies which have less than 50% of their shares traded. The ownership of the companies must be Canadian, or of Canadian PE or VC firms. The company must have annual revenues over CAD $25 million.
Impact
It is common for companies who received the award to boast about having received it.[6][7][8][9][10][11]
