From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Credit Libanais (Arabic: بنك الاعتماد اللبناني) is a Lebanese bank, established in 1961.

Credit Libanais Group is headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon and operates as a global provider of a full range of banking products and services channeled through a network of local branches and beyond. The group provides its customers, alongside key classical banking activities, digital services in e-commerce, smart cards, points of sale, ATM networks and the full range of e-banking secure services.

Since 2004 onward, the bank holds the ISO9001:2000 Certification for quality management system.

History

Credit Libanais SAL was established in 1961 as a Lebanese joint stock company; it is registered on the Lebanese list of banks under number 53 and in the Beirut Commercial Registry under number 10742. Credit Libanais is domiciled at Corniche El Nahr, Adlieh Roundabout, P.O Box: 16-6729, Beirut 1100 2811 Lebanon.

In 1996, the Bank established Credit Libanais Investment Bank, the investment arm of the Group, and during that same year, CL issued the first Euro CDs listed on foreign stock markets.

In 2005, Credit Libanais launched its Islamic banking operations through its subsidiary, the Lebanese Islamic Bank (LIB).

In 2010, Credit International sa (CISA) was established in Senegal as a fully owned banking subsidiary to CL.

In addition to operating in Lebanon, Credit Libanais expanded to several countries such as Cyprus, Bahrain and Iraq; yet in response to changing market dynamics aggravated by the unfortunate consequences of the worldwide pandemic, Iraq operations would be soon terminated.

Acquisition

Throughout its journey, Credit Libanais acquired many banks in Lebanon such as the Continental Bank in 1977, First Phoenician Bank and Capital Trust Bank in 1994, and the operations of American Express Bank in Lebanon in 2000.
