Criptext is a privacy-orientated email service,[1] headquartered in the US and founded in 2014.

Unlike cloud email providers, criptext stores messages only on its users' computers. However rather than use the more common POP3 protocol to transfer mail, Criptext uses the Signal protocol in order to ensure mail is encrypted in transit between the client and the Criptext servers.[2] Therefore, mail between individual Criptext users is completely point-to-point encrypted; mail sent or received from other internet providers is encrypted between the client and Criptext's servers.
