Cris "Sunshine" Lencioni
Cris "Sunshine" Lencioni is a mixed martial arts fighter based out of Portland, Oregon. Lencioni trains at American Top Team, Portland, under Professor Fabiano Scherner, a world champion and 4th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Lencioni is currently a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and continues to train daily along side owning and operating his own BJJ & MMA gym, Sunshine Athletics & Fabiano Scherner Jiu Jitsu.

Background[edit]
Born in Davenport, Iowa and raised in Fresno, California, Cris "Sunshine" Lencioni attended Clovis North High School in Fresno and competed in varsity wrestling all four years. In addition he earned a Junior Black Belt in Taekwondo, a Green Belt in Judo, and currently has worked his way to a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Lencioni moved to Oregon and graduated from Portland State University with a degree in criminal justice.
Previously Lencioni was known as Cris Williams, however it was a surname from his stepfather, and after years of deliberation he had it legally changed to Lencioni in 2018, a family name brought by his grandfather from Italy.[1]

Lencioni made his professional MMA debut on 2/25/2017 against Wyatt Gonzalez at CageSport 44 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington where he defeated Gonzalez by unanimous decision.[2]
King of the Cage: Future Kings[edit]
In Worley, Idaho on 5/25/2017 for the King of the Cage: Future Kings event, Lencioni defeated his opponent Elijah Ross by a rear naked choke submission four minutes and 20 seconds into the first round.[3]
Rumble at the Roseland[edit]
Showcased as the main event, Lencioni fought in Rumble at the Roseland 93 at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon on 7/22/2017, a promotion of the Full Contact Fighting Federation. Lencioni won his match against Dylan Atkinson, submitting him with an armbar one minute and 34 seconds into the first round.[4]
Bellator MMA (formerly Bellator Fighting Championships)[edit]
Lencioni made his Bellator MMA debut 12/1/2017 at Bellator 189, where he defeated Thomas Lopez with a triangle choke just 1 minute and 39 seconds into round one.[5]
At Bellator 195, Lencioni went up against Daniel Carey of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and was defeated by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds in the cage at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma on March 2, 2018.[6]
As part of the main card at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lencioni went up against Tywan Claxton at Bellator 204, August 17, 2018, a match-up that spurred drama in person and over social media.[7] Lencioni went on to lose that match by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
At the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois at Bellator 221, Lencioni defeated opponent Adil Benjilany with a triangle choke with just seconds left in the first round.[8]
Lencioni was on the ticket to fight in Bellator 232 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on 10/26/2019 against fellow MMA fighter Robin van Roosmalen (2-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), however the featherweight fight was cancelled after van Roosmalen weighed in at over nine pounds heavier than the divisional limit at 155.25.[9]
On 2/21/2020 at Bellator 239 that took place at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma, Lencioni defeated Salim Mukhidinov (7-3-0) by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) after three grueling rounds, despite breaking his leg during the first round.[10]

Personal Life[edit]
Lencioni married his longtime girlfriend Marca Hibbard on 10/20/2018.
July 2018 Lencioni opened Sunshine Athletics & Fabiano Scherner Jiu Jitsu, located in Canby, Oregon, where he coaches both kids and adults in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, and various other MMA and striking techniques for self defense, fitness, and sport.
