From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Croí8 [krɪˈeɪt] is an Irish band based in Galway. The group is currently made up of drummer, percussionist and singer Barry Hurley, flautist Sinéad Bracken, guitarists Diego Zapata and David O'Keeffe. The name of the band is pronounced like the english word "Create" formed from the portmanteau of Croí.[1] meaning heart in the Irish language and the numeric symbol 8 "eight".

The group were originally formed in 2004 by guitarist David O'Keeffe and drummer/singer Barry Hurley while they studied at National University of Ireland, Galway and they were later joined in 2007 by Sinéad Bracken on flute and Maria Keogh on vocals [2]. Barry has also featured playing drums and recording with the band Phantom Dog Beneath the Moon [3]

Croí8 made their first EP Flying Through The Ash in 2010 and launched it as part of a show entitled the "Musical Circus" at the Town Hall Theatre Studio in Galway as a fundraiser for St. Vincent de Paul [4][5].

Their first full album One Step Closer was released in March 2018 [6][7]. The album comprises eleven different tracks. Songs were arranged by Barry Hurley, David O'Keeffe, Sinéad Bracken and Maria Keogh. Barry features on tracks singing lead vocals, playing drums, percussion, bass, piano, synth, harmonica and some small guitar parts. David plays most of the guitar parts on the album. Sinéad plays flute and provides some backing vocals. Maria's vocals feature on some of the tracks. There are also contributions by Maria Delaney on violin, Rhodri Cederig on violin/viola, Gerard McGrath on bass and Colin McDonagh with effects.

Stuart Wicke joined the band on bass and singer/songwriter Michael O'Connor sang backing vocals as part of a series of gigs in September 2018 [8]

Joann McCormack replaced Maria Keogh as female vocalist of the band in November 2018 and sang as part of the December 2018 performances at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway [9][10] and also in April 2019 at An Taibhdhearc Theatre in Galway [11]. Also Peter Lawlor played for a short time with the band [12].
