The Cromcastle Court flats are a flat complex in Dublin, Ireland, in the area of Kilmore. The flats were built in the 1970s and are currently being destroyed.
History
The flats were built in 1971 using the same building type used to build the Ballymun Flats.[1][2] In 1972 a protest was held, and the flats were one of the main spots of the protest.[3][4][5] The protests happened because Irish police tried to kick out a family.[6] In June 2018, people found out that the flats were starting to destroy themselves because of corrosion. It costed €250,000 to fix.[7][8] From December 2024 until May 2025, the Irish university Maynooth University studied them and found that they were unsafe to live in, and that they were mouldy and had bad water and heating.[9][10][11]
In 2026, work started to destroy the buildings so they could be replaced with new houses.[12][13]
