The Crosho Fire is a wildfire burning near Crosho Lake, northwest of Yampa, Colorado, that began on August 11, 2025. As of August 15, the fire had burned an estimated 2,021 acres (818 ha) and is 100% contained.[1]
Fire history
August
The Crosho Fire was first reported on August 11, 2025, at approximately 3:25 p.m. MDT. Within two hours, it expanded from 10 acres to 20 acres.[2]
By the morning of August 12, the fire had grown to 300 acres, with containment still at 0%.[3]
On August 13, the fire expanded rapidly from 300 acres to 1,352 acres, and later that day to approximately 1,700 acres.[4]
Impact
Closures and evacuations
As of August 13, evacuation orders were in effect for Zones 3 and 4, while Zones 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9 were under pre-evacuation status.[5]
