Crossnet

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Crossnet is a single contestant game which combines Volleyball and popular Recess (break) and Physical education game, Four square. The company is based in Miami, Florida [1] and was created by Greg Meade, Chris Meade and Michael Delpapa.

Origin[edit]

Greg, Chris and Michael were collaborating business ideas in early 2017. They thought of the concept of combining the aspects of four square and volleyball to make a new game. The idea was brought up because they thought there was a lack of high quality beach games.[2] To their surprise, the concept was already patented. But after receiving rights to the patent, they moved from Connecticut to Miami, Florida to reach a more suitable demographic, and took off with the company. [3]

Rules[edit]

Crossnet incorporates the same rules as four square, but with a volleyball and played in the air rather than on the ground. The playing field is divided into four squares by the four way net. The net is adjustable in height from 7 feet and 4 inches high, to 7 feet 11 inches high . Each square is 6 feet and 7 inches wide. [4] The players start by filling the four squares. Any additional players wait behind a designated line for their turn to get on.[5] The player in square 4 serves in diagonally to the player in square 2. From there, the basic rules of volleyball are in play. Players will hit the ball over the net, into opposing players squares . This process continues until the ball lands outside of play, or a player fails to get the ball over the net. Once a player messes up, they either return to square 1 or go to the back of the line, depending on how many people are playing, and the other players rotate clock wise. The goal of the game is to get to square 4. The player in square 4 does not rotate once they are in that square, unless they are eliminated. Once you are in square 4, you can gain points by either playing it within an opposing players square, or being the last person to touch the ball before another player fails to get it over the net. The first player to score 11 points while in square 4 wins the game. The game follows a win by two points rule, so if two players are tied at 10 points each, one can only win once they get two more points than the opponent.
