Crowned Jewels

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Crowned Jewels is a sex toy manufacturer that specialises in manufacturing out of precious metals such as Titanium, Aluminium, Silver and Stainless Steel. The company is known for its focus on body-safe and eco-manufactured toys. All Crowned Jewels products are manufactured by hand which allows the products to be personalised for a bespoke service.

History[edit]

In 2006, whilst working as a Jeweller, James Stevens set out to manufacture sex toys that were not composed of harmful silicon materials that were flooding the market.[1]. The decision to manufacture out of precious metals came from James Stevens' background as a jeweller. Knowing that the metals he used in his jewellery creation had to pass the Assay office's stringent test for body-safe material, using precious metal was the logical conclusion.

The name Crowned Jewels is a play on the Royal Family's Crown Jewels, originally the company set out to manufacture cock rings for men hence the tongue-in-cheek name. Crowned Jewels product are also named after famous tube stations in London including Marylebone and Farringdon.

Crowned Jewels has supplied leading sex toy retailers such as Love Honey, Ann Summers[2] and Coco Der Mer.

Manufacturing[edit]

James Stevens first began handcrafting luxury one-off pieces using Silver, including a £15,000 bedazzled vibrator. When he decided to mass manufacture some of his designs, because of his background as an engineer, he chose to manufacture from precious metals. As he was used to making products from silver which has to be Hallmarked, he approached the Assay Office and found it was revealed by the Analytical Laboratory[3], that he was the first sex toy manufacturer to willingly get his products tested for compliance for the EU Nickel Directive.

As a result of James Stevens' background as an engineer, he has used his knowledge of metals to create innovative ways to bend Titanium and finish it with a glossy polish. This is considered a great accomplishment due to the difficulty in polishing Titanium. Currently, Crowned Jewels are the only company manufacturing sex toys out of Titanium due to the knowledge needed to work efficiently with the metal. The difficulty in machining titanium comes from the chips that are formed when it is machined, these chips can entangle machine tools, making the possibility of automating the process impossible[4].

The other metals used by Crowned Jewels such as Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Silver are more commonplace in the industry. Although, Crowned Jewels is the only manufacturer that makes sure all its metals are certified body-safe by the Assay Office in Birmingham.

Crowned Jewels produces its toys using Wind Power from a farm in Norfolk, UK and with their toys which are made out of precious materials that can be easily recycled[5]. Their manufacturing process makes Crowned Jewels a leading eco manufacturer not only in the sex toy industry but in metal manufacturing.

Controversy[edit]

Some people have claimed that some of the toys in the Love Honey Fifty Shades Of Grey collection were inspired by Crowned Jewels creations. There can be similarities observed between the Love Honey G Spot Steel Wand [6] and the Crowned Jewels Farringdon Dildo [7].

It has been rumored that Crowned Jewels helped Marco Pierre White Jr release his own brand of sex toys. On the Kyle and Jackie O show, Marco Jr said he had been working with a jeweller and said 'I've designed these toys - they're quite classy, they're artistic, they're all made out of titanium so they are different to anything on the market'[8]
