CryptoSlam is a data aggregator for non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles founded in Overland Park, Kansas. The company is most notable for tracking thousands of NFT projects over 19 blockchains[1] including Ethereum, Polygon, Wax, Flow, Solana, and more.[2]
History[edit]
CryptoSlam was originally founded by CEO Randy Wasinger in 2018 as a means to track and analyze NFT data from MLB Champions, the first NFT collection to be officially licensed by a major professional sports league.[3] Wasinger collected sports cards and memorabilia since his adolescence, giving him insight into the collectability of NFTs and the need to organize NFT data for both collectors and potential investors.[4]
After launching the first version of CryptoSlam in early 2019,[3] the platform began integrating data from multiple NFT collections, including tracking the success of NBA Top Shot in 2021.[5]
Growth & Expansion[edit]
In April 2021, Mark Cuban’s[4] venture capital firm Radical Investments, along with Aloomii Inc, Troon Technologies, and GeoAds LLC, invested in CryptoSlam. The amount raised was not disclosed to the public.[6]
In January 2022, CryptoSlam raised $9 million[7] in a strategic seed round led by Animoca Brands.[8] During this round, several brands and capital firms invested in CryptoSlam including Mark Cuban,[4][9] Ashton Kutcher’s VC firm Sound Ventures, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, Mark Pincus, and others.[10]
As of 2022, Cyptoslam tracked thousands of NFT collections such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Axie Infinity, Art Blocks, Ethereum Name Service, and Crypto Punks.[9]
Data from CryptoSlam has been cited by notable media outlets and NFT onboarding articles from Forbes,[11] Bloomberg,[12] TechCrunch,[13] Reuters,[14] and CNBC.[15]
In August 2022, CryptoSlam launched an API to enable blockchain developers to build applications leveraging NFT data such as sales volume, blockchain rankings, and number of transactions.[16]
