Schoolboy and youth rugby[edit]
Collopy was born in Cape Town, but grew up in KwaZulu-Natal, for whom he played several times at schoolboy level. He played for them at the Under-13 Craven Week in 2006,[2] the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2009[3] and the Under-18 Craven Week in 2011.[4]
He was a member of the [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]] squads in 2013[5] and 2014, making three appearances in the latter competition.[6]
2016: Western Province[edit]
Collopy joined the Cape Town-based [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]] in 2016 and was named in their squad for the 2016 Currie Cup qualification series.[7] He made his first class debut on 22 April 2016 by playing off the bench in a 36–31 victory over [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]] in Round Three of the competition.[8] His next appearance came in Round Nine, when he made his first senior start in a 43–34 victory over the [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]].[9] He played off the bench in five of their remaining six matches in the competition, scoring his first senior try in a 59–31 victory over the [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]][10] and a second in his final match for Western Province, a 52–26 victory over the [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]].[11] Western Province finished top of the log in the competition, winning thirteen of their fourteen matches.[12]
2016: Eastern Province Kings[edit]
For the second half of 2016, Collopy joined the Port Elizabeth-based [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]]. He was named in their squad for the 2016 Currie Cup Premier Division[13] and made his Currie Cup debut in their rescheduled midweek match against [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]]. He came on as a replacement after 54 minutes and scored his first Currie Cup try in the final minute of a 24–47 defeat.[14] He made one more appearance for the Eastern Province Kings, coming on for the last five minutes of a 7–71 defeat to the [[{{{tan}}}|{{{t}}}]].[15]
2017–present: Barcelona[edit]
After the 2016 Currie Cup, Collopy joined Spanish División de Honor side FC Barcelona.[16] He made his debut in their match against El Salvador, starting as a flanker and scoring a try just after the hour mark in a 19–44 defeat.[17]
