Cullen Crawford (August 7, 1915 - December 14, 1991) was the inventor of the patented leak-tight compression tube-fitting [1] when he founded the Crawford Fitting Company, currently known as Swagelok, with his business partner, Fred Lennon in 1947.[2][3][4]

His invention is best known for creating the Swagelok style compression tube fitting in, a commonly used fitting type for the connection of metal tubing.

In 1955 he founded Tylok after answering a request by the Atomic Energy Commission by developing a four-seal coupling to hold liquid sodium. Tylok rapidly expanded and he expaned his plant from Waterloo Rd. in Cleveland, Ohio to a larger site in Euclid, Ohio where it remains today.[5]
