Curriculum on Laudato Si' For Secondary Education

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Curriculum on Laudato Si’ for Secondary Education, developed by the Carmelite NGO in 2016, is designed to help high school students around the world learn from Pope Francis’s environmental Encyclical Laudato Si’ On Care For Our Common Home.

The Carmelite NGO also has created a Laudato Si’ Study Guide for adults and college students. These Curricula are available to teachers, students, school administrators and everyone in hard copies or downloads in English and Spanish at laudato-si-for-all.com.

In 2016 the administration and faculty of Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, AZ were enlisted to help develop the Curriculum. The goal was educate more young people with lessons from the encyclical and integrate these lessons across the curriculum into all high school classes.

A year later the Laudato Si’ Curriculum was complete. A 252-page volume, it includes comprehensive, detailed lesson plans in Theology, Environmental Science, Social Studies and Humanities for grades nine through 12. Lessons are geared to grade level and educational standards.

The Curriculum was introduced in Rome on Nov. 4, 2017, when Carmelite representatives adopted it as a model for its schools around the world during the International Congress for Carmelite Secondary Schools. The Carmelite NGO also offers the Curriculum to non-Catholic and secular institutions everywhere.

The Curriculum has been approved by Archbishop Gregory Aymond of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and by Fr. Raul Maraví, O.Carm., General Councilor of the Carmelite Order representing the Americas and President of the International Commission of Carmelite Schools and Youth.
