Cyberlocos World Expedition

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Cyberlocos World Expedition is an international overland journey in which travelers Lars Christiansen and Alan Wurman are driving a Tesla Cybertruck across approximately 80 countries on six continents. The project, which began in January 2025, aims to demonstrate the practicality of long-distance electric-vehicle travel while attempting a Guinness World Record for the most countries visited in an electric pickup truck. The expedition has attracted media coverage in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, with public events and appearances in collaboration with local communities.

StartJanuary 2025

The expedition began in January 2025 and is planned to span approximately 80 countries across all inhabited continents.[1] The team announced that their Guinness World Record attempt was formally accepted in 2025.[2]

Route

The journey commenced in the United States, after which the Cybertruck was shipped to Lima, Peru. From there, the route continued through Bolivia, Chile, Patagonia, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil before the vehicle was transported to Europe. By mid-September 2025, the travelers entered Türkiye and continued through Iran and Afghanistan, with future routes planned across Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia before returning to the United States via Panama.[3]

Challenges

Driving an electric pickup truck on a global scale has presented charging and logistical challenges. In South America, the team frequently relied on improvised charging solutions and local hospitality. In Bolivia, the Cybertruck was reported as the first electric vehicle to reach the Carretera de la Muerte (Death Road).[4] The Atacama Desert leg brought navigation difficulties in sand dunes and limited infrastructure for electric charging in remote regions.[5]

Objectives

The expedition’s stated goals include:

  • Outreach: promoting electric mobility and environmental awareness in local communities.
  • Proof of concept: demonstrating that long-distance and cross-continental travel is achievable with electric vehicles.
  • Record: achieving a Guinness World Record by visiting 80 countries in an electric pickup truck.

Public engagement

During the expedition, the team has participated in public events organized with tourism offices, universities, and municipalities. Thousands of people have attended local exhibitions and photo events showcasing the vehicle. The journey has also been featured in local media outlets in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.[6][7] On social media, the project is documented under the handle @cyberlocos on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.[8]
