The Cyprus Research and Educational Foundation (CREF)[1][2][3], was established in February 2004.

Board of Trustees

CREF is governed by a Board of Trustees, composed of leading personalities of the international academic, political and business world; it is currently chaired by Dan-Olof Riska, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Helsinki and treasurer and former president of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters[4]. The Board of Trustees constitutes the governing body of The Cyprus Institute. It holds the duty to govern CyI, to oversee the stewardship of CyI for its well-being and stability, and to ensure that CyI adheres to the purposes for which it was established. More specifically, the Board and its committees have responsibility for reviewing and providing guidance on strategic directions, approving annual budgets, exercising long-term fiduciary responsibility, conferring degrees, ratifying appointments of tenured faculty and other senior appointments and being available (individually and collectively) to advise the CyI President on various issues when requested.
