Cyril Joyce (30th April 1933 – 12th January 1992) was an author and games inventor. Born in Liverpool, he attended Quarry Bank High School for Boys before joining the RAF for his national service and then becoming a policeman. After a subsequent career in insurance, he became a full-time writer in the 1970s and enjoyed much success with police procedural novels that drew on his own experience. He was published by Robert Hale as well as various paperback publishers and worked very closely with his wife Rita on the production of his work.
