Cytus II
Cytus II is a rhythm game produced by Rayark Games. Cytus II succeeds the basic gameplay of its predecessor Cytus; players use fingers to click, hold, or slide notes on the screen with the music’s beats to earn points. Cytus changed the definition of rhythm game in 2012.[1] In 2018, Cytus II ameliorates graphics and the story expression, and adds two new notes to enrich its gameplay. Cytus II invites worldwide musicians to provide more than one hundred high-quality songs in different music genres.[2]
Plot
In the future world, people are absorbed in virtual internet space. Highly developed information technology encroaches on people’s real life. In the biggest internet space, cyTus, a legendary DJ named Æsir invites popular singers and DJs to hold a virtual concert, the Æsir-FEST. Millions of people swarm into cyTus to witness Æsir’s appearance…[3]
Gameplay
Controls
A scan line moves up and down on the screen with a changeable speed, and different notes appear on the screen. Players use fingers to click, hold, drag, or slide different notes to harmonize the scan line’s movement.[2]
Notes and difficulty
There are five different notes in the game: click notes, drag notes, hold notes, and the new flick notes and special hold notes. The character Ivy debuts the new notes Click-Drag.[3] There are different awards for players’ accuracy: Perfect, Good, Bad, and Miss. Cytus II also has three different difficulties: easy, hard, and chaos. Each song has all three difficulties with different graphic designs.[3]
Character and plot
Cytus II has 11 characters in the game, each character recording several songs. Players play songs to upgrade the characters, then unlock their story in the social network system so-called "iM" in the game and read the plot.[3]
Playable songs
Cytus II includes more than one hundred high-quality songs in different music genres, pop, jazz, rock, classic, and electric music, created by worldwide musicians like Japan, Korea, Europe, the US, Taiwan, and more. Some of the musicians have collaborated with Rayark in Cytus, Deemo, VOEZ.[2][4] Cytus II includes 94 and IPA (In-App Purchase) songs, more than 100 high-quality songs, and over 300 graphic designs to meet various players’ requirements of different levels.[2]
