D' Passion Collective
D’ Passion Collective was founded by Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan[1] and was known as D’ Passion Players in 1999. The primary goal then was to offer students of English Literature as well as students from other departments of Cotton College[2] (University) a possibility to improve their language skills in an entertaining and active way. Presently with over 25 productions to its credit it is a friendly amateur theatre group with over 50 like minded members of all ages with a variety of talents, from acting and singing to designing sets and costumes. The group came into being soon after the sudden demise of legendary thespian Dhiru Bhuyan.-Inspiring, fun and organized environment for people to explore and participate in amateur theatre and develop their personal talent. Apart from conducting workshops on communication, the Collective mostly stages English-language productions with a few Assamese full lengths to its credit and covers a range of styles from intimate and musicals to serious plays and comedies. Known for their theatre workshops and camps the group also travels with their productions in the club and college fest circuit. D’ Passion Collective[3] also gets involved in local drama festivals, hosts creative communication workshops and organize play readings and other social opportunities for creative souls. Moreover, play reading sessions are growing over the years when it comes to participation. Workshops include, Drama Games, Building and designing Ideas, Improvisation, Storytelling, Group Work, Devising Scenes, Trust Exercises, Character Development, Voice Work and Performance Skills. The Collective enables people of all ages and backgrounds to experience every aspect of theatre as a participant or as an audience member. Run wholly by volunteers to promote the advancement of the art of drama, we at the Collective believe that all members and volunteers have the right to be healthy, happy, safe, valued and respected. We collectively strive for best practice in health and safety and an environment free from bullying, harassment or discrimination. The group regularly meets and rehearses mainly in #6 “Bhuyan Howely”,[4] Guwahati, Assam.
